Chairman Carlos Beruff is a businessman and native Floridian who has worked at the intersection of business and government the majority of his career. A resident of Manatee County since 1980, Chairman Beruff is a real estate developer, state-certified building contractor and the CEO of Medallion Home Gulf Coast LC, an award-winning home building company. During his more than 35-year career as a business owner, Chairman Beruff has built more than 2,000 homes and developed, owned and managed dozens of other properties, employing thousands of people in the process.

The son of Cuban immigrants, Chairman Beruff considers himself blessed to have been born in the United States. After experiencing poverty in childhood, he started his first business at the age of 22. Over time, his company Medallion Home became one of the most respected companies in Manatee and Sarasota Counties.

In addition to his work in the private sector, Chairman Beruff has volunteered his business experience, giving back to his community to bring real solutions to the problems facing Floridians. Chairman Beruff has previously served on the Board of Trustees of the State College of Florida (SCF) and the Southwest Florida Water Management District, helping these organizations to cut government bureaucracy and wasteful spending – saving millions in taxpayer dollars. Currently, he is also a commissioner on the Sarasota Manatee Airport Authority Board, a position he was appointed to in 2008 and reappointed to by Governor Rick Scott.

Chairman Beruff is a member of the National Home Builders Association and the Home Builders Association Manatee-Sarasota. He has served on the Board of Directors for Junior Achievement Sarasota/Manatee and the Boys and Girls Club of Manatee. In October 2007, he was named a “Point of Light” for demonstrating exemplary service by volunteering time to the State of Florida and his community.

Chairman Beruff is the proud parent of three children and resides with his wife Janelle in Bradenton.
