Commissioner Hank Coxe is a Jacksonville-based attorney who specializes in federal and state criminal matters. A former president of The Florida Bar and the Jacksonville Bar Association, he has also served on the Judicial Qualifications Commission, which is the constitutionally created board that receives and investigates allegations of judicial misconduct. He previously served on the Florida Supreme Court Innocence Commission and the Judicial Nominating Commissions for the Fourth Judicial Circuit as well as the First District Court of Appeal.

He has been recognized with the highest awards of the Criminal Law Section of The Florida Bar, the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Florida Bar Foundation and Jacksonville Area Legal Aid. He is listed in Florida Super Lawyers (Top 10 and Top 100), Florida Trend magazine’s Legal Elite Hall of Fame and Best Lawyers in America.

Commissioner Coxe joined the Bedell Law Firm in 1996 where he is a shareholder. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of the South (Sewanee) and his law degree from Washington and Lee University. He is admitted to the bar in Florida; Virginia; U.S. Supreme Court; U.S. Court of Appeals, 5th Circuit; U.S. Court of Appeals, 11th Circuit; U.S. District Court, Middle District of Florida; and U.S. District Court, Northern District of Florida.

Commissioner Coxe’s wife Mary is a graduate of Wellesley College and Duke University School of Law. Together they have three children: Katie (University of Pennsylvania, University of Florida College of Law); Matson (Vanderbilt University, University of North Carolina School of Law); and Anne English (Davidson College, Columbia University School of Law).
