Commissioner Anna Marie (“Annie”) Hernandez Gamez is a native Miamian, born to Cuban parents who emigrated to the United States as young children. She is a lifelong resident of Miami-Dade County and a member of the Church of the Little Flower.

Commissioner Hernandez Gamez is an accomplished litigation attorney, member of the firm's South Florida Litigation Team, and also a partner at Holland & Knight's Miami office. Her experience consists of representing both publicly traded and closely held corporations, financial institutions, domestic and international businesses, developers and individuals. Her work primarily focuses on complex real estate and commercial litigation matters. She was selected as a 2017 Holland & Knight Rising Star, an intensive program of leadership, management and professional skills development for female attorneys.

Commissioner Hernandez Gamez attended Florida International University where she received her bachelor’s degree in History and Political Science. She received her Juris Doctor with honors from the University of Miami School of Law in 2001 and is admitted to the bar in Florida, the United States District Courts (Middle, Northern, and Southern Districts of Florida) and United States Bankruptcy Courts (Middle and Southern Districts of Florida).

Commissioner Hernandez Gamez is the Immediate Past President of the Cuban American Bar Association (CABA) having served as its President in 2016, and other officer positions since 2006. She is currently the President of the Cuban American Bar Foundation (CABF) and a member of the CABA Pro Bono Project, Inc.’s Board of Directors. She is also a member of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Professionalism Committee (2016-present), Eleventh Judicial Circuit Local Professionalism Panel (2014-present), sits on the Cuba Task Force of the Hispanic National Bar Association (2016-present) and a mentor for Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Success in Law School Mentoring Program (2016-present). She is also a Fellow of the American Bar Association (2015-present). 

Commissioner Hernandez Gamez takes an active role in her community and has served on several community and charitable boards of directors, including the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s “40 Under 40 Outstanding Young Lawyers of Miami-Dade County” Selection and Host Committee, Easter Seals South Florida’s Small Miracles Luncheon and Take Stock in Children Miami-Dade.
