ARTICLE I: DECLARATION OF RIGHTS, Section 27. Marriage defined.
Inasmuch as marriage is the legal union of only one man and one woman as husband and wife, no other legal union that is treated as marriage or the substantial equivalent thereof shall be valid or recognized.
ARTICLE I: DECLARATION OF RIGHTS, New Section.
All persons at least eighteen years of age or in cases of emancipated minors, may marry whether this is by religious covenant, personal contract or both and this be recognized as a legal marriage for legal purposes. No court or political subdivision of the State of Florida shall issue any declaration of civil union or marriage. It shall be understood that marriage is a private matter outside the realm of government; individuals who are married may also dissolve their personal contract as they see fit or as an outcome of a civil or in some cases criminal suit; furthermore no religion shall be force to marry or divorce against its creed.
