All natural persons, female and male alike, are equal before the law and have inalienable rights, among which are the right to enjoy and defend life and liberty, to pursue happiness, to be rewarded for industry, and to acquire, possess and protect property; except that the ownership, inheritance, disposition and possession of real property by aliens ineligible for citizenship may be regulated or prohibited by law. No person shall be deprived of any right because of race, religion, national origin, or physical disability , including diseases and injuries which may require opioid treatment in order to stop or slow the decline in functioing and death when other medical measures have failed. Each citizen of the State of Florida shall be entitled to necessary medical care and medication necessary to attain or maintain the highest level of functioning possible. The Patient's Bill of Rights must be stricken in its entirely and amended to include language currently in th California Patient's Bill of Rights. Other language from the California Statute 458.326 must be adopted in Florida. This language would help the millions of Floridians who suffer from chroic pain whch is currently not being treated. This Amendment would prevent Physician Abandonment which leads to significant decline in functining and death by complications related to non-tapering and suicides due to pain. This language would hold doctors harmless when prescribing, in good faith, pain medifcine for those who have severe pain from signifiant illnesses and injuries.
