PUB 700734: Reimburse Tallahassee/Leon County if Capital Is Moved for Economic Damages by Dale

NEW ARTICLE

Title: REAL COSTS AND IMPACTS OF MOVING CAPITAL CITY

Since Tallahassee and Leon County have lost hundreds of millions of dollars over the last nearly 200 years serving as Capital City due to government buildings being tax exempt, I propose that a study be done to find out how much the state owes Tallahassee/Leon County in order to absorb the impact of tens of thousands of people losing their jobs and the effect this will have on the real estate market in this region when people are forced to relocate. I expect it to be several billion dollars, not to mention hundreds of millions of dollars worth of state office buildings that would have to either be sold or donated to the local Universities. All of these buildings would have to be rebuilt in new location, so total impact would add hundreds of millions of dollars to the total costs, if not billions since land cost substantially more in Orlando than in Tallahassee.
