ARTICLE III: LEGISLATURE, New Section.

Catchline: Require Candidates to Gain Majority in Primary to Ensure True Support of Party Voters

In order for a candidate running in a partisan election primary to advance to the general election, he or she shall be required to gain at least 50% plus one majority vote in his/her respective party’s primary. If in the primary no candidate in a respective party gains the needed majority, there shall be a runoff between the top two candidates in that party. Those qualified to vote in the party’s primary shall be able to vote in the runoff. The legislature shall by law determine the means and timeframe for this process.
