Catchline: Technical Trade Training Schools

The state board of education for technical trade training shall be a body corporate and have such supervision of the system of free public education as is provided by law. The state board of education shall consist of seven members appointed by the governor to staggered 4-year terms, subject to confirmation by the senate. The state board of education shall appoint the commissioner of education for technical trade training institutions.

(a) Technical trade training is an important educational process to ensure the State of Florida makes adequate provisions for those 16 years of age and older are given opportunties to learn and master trade skills to include: carpentry, electricial, ironworking, machinist, masonry, mechanical engine, plasterers, plumbers, welding, roofing, solar installers, and computer technicians of every kind.

(b) A minimum of ten State technical trade training centers will be created, staffed, and funded to ensure the State has the infrastructure workers to maintain, create, re-build where necessary, and expand where needed.
